Gokan, the Guardian WiP – Part 1

Gokan, the Guardian WiP – Part 1

After a couple of botched attempts trying to decide on a skin tone for Gokan, the Guardian I finally have one started that I think is going to work out. I’ve never painted a bigger miniature with very defined muscles, or male for that matter so I didn’t really know where to start so I went digging through my folder of saved tutorials to get some good inspiration.

This far in, I’ve focused on his torso and mostly highlighting, trying not to rush it as I tend to do.

I’m also preparing a Nurgle Marine, that I’ve been thinking about doing for a while. Nothing fancy, just a FW HH body with it’s head and backpack from Maxmini’s Bio-hazard sets.

As Christmas is around the corner, I’ve been trying to find something fun to give myself. I’m looking for a miniature, 54mm or bigger for the sake of painting. I’m considering getting a nice bust as I’ve never painted one before plus some basing supplies.

I just found out that Nocturna have a Indiegogo campaign up and running for Nordic Mythology miniatures. They have Thor. Loki and Freya planned and from the renders they look really good.

I haven’t backed any projects before but this one is tempting.

  • Looking good so far! The sculpted muscles on this figure would be perfect for some tattoos if you were so inclined! Thanks for the links!

  • Hmm that’s not a bad idea. I’m not very skilled when it comes to freehand but I think I need to try it out on paper and see if I can pull it off.
