Red Riding Hood Part 2 – Boots, Belts and Straps

This is the second part of the progress on Red Riding Hood and this time we’re focusing on leather. It’s not one of my strongest sides but I’m happy with the outcome.

You might also notice that I really, really like Beige Brown :). When painting these parts , I didn’t have a plan on how to paint them so they might be a bit weird and you could probably eliminate some of the steps and still get the same results.

Anyhow, let’s get down to the painting.

Boots

  • Base: Beige Brown
  • S #1: Sepia Wash
  • S #2: Leather Brown + a little Inktense Green (S75)
  • HL #1: Use the S2 mix and add 1 part Beige Brown
  • HL #2: Add another part of Beige Brown
  • HL #3: Add another part of Beige Brown
  • HL #4: Add 1 part of Green Grey
  • Glaze #1: Inktense Green (S75)
  • Glaze #2: Inktense Wood + Inktense Green, 2:1

Straps

  • Base: Beige Brown
  • S #1: Smoke
  • HL #1: Beige Brown + Beige, 1:1
  • Glaze #1: Smoke
  • Glaze #2: Inktense Red (S75)
  • HL #2: Beige Brown + Beige, 1:2
  • Glaze #3: Inktense Chestnut (S75)

Belts and Leg Straps

  • Base: Black Leather (S75)
  • HL #1: Black Leather + Sandal Wood (S75), 1:1
  • Wash #1: Inktense Wood (S75)
  • HL #2: Flat Earth
  • HL #3: Flat Earth + Green Grey, 1:1
  • Glaze #1: Smoke
  • HL #4: Beige Brown
  • Glaze #2: Smoke

Next time we’ll focus on her hair and her hood.
